Second victim of Balapitiya shooting dies

The second individual who was shot in front of the Balapitiya Magistrate's Court yesterday (16) has succumbed to his injuries.

Two unidentified assailants who came on a motorbike shot two individuals who were waiting at a hotel in front of the Balapitiya Magistrate's Court last morning. They were both admitted to the Balapitiya hosptial in critical condition. One of the victims, identified as a 56-year-old resident of Kantale, succumbed to his injuries yesterday.

The individual who died today was the second victim of that shooting. He has been identified by police as a 30-year-old resident of Induruwa. He was being treated at the National Hospital in Colombo when he succumbed to his injuries.

The suspects remain at large. Ambalangoda Police are conducting investigations to arrest them.
