Avant Garde Chairman Nishshanka Senadhipathi, who is facing charges for the operation of an illegal floating armoury, has been remanded until November 08.
He was arrested at 11:30 pm last night by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) upon arrival from Singapore.
During today's hearing the Colombo High Court trial-at-bar, appointed to hear the case, had rejected a bail request put forward by Senadhipathi's lawyers.
The case is being taken up before High Court judges Dhammika Ganepola, Aditya Patabendige and Manjula Thilakaratne.
Senadhipathi, is among the 13 suspects, facing 7573 charges, for the operation of the illegal floating armoury. They are due to be handed over indictments on September 27.
