Senior DIG Pujith Jayasundara received the letter of appointment as 34th Inspector General of Police from President Maithripala Sirisena a shortwhile ago, President's Media Division said.
The Constitutional Council (CC) on Monday recommended Senior DIG Pujith Jayasundara as the 34th Inspector General of Police (IGP). The recommendation of the Council will be conveyed to the President.
The decision came after council convened this evening under the patronage of the Speaker at the Parliament. Acting IGP S. M. Wickremesinghe,Senior DIGs Chandana Wickremeratne and Jayasundara, were nominated to the post and summoned before the council for an interview today.
