Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith today (Apr 29) said that church services which were suspended following the deadly attacks on Easter Sunday will resume in certain churches under security on May 05.
The Cardinal told reporters that bags will not be allowed inside churches owing to security measures, he said.
Meanwhile, the Archbishop of Colombo added that special 'Vigilance Committees' will be formed in each parish to ensure the security of the devotees who attend masses.
These committees would be formed by area residents in their respective Churches and would be entrusted with the task of identifying indiviudals who enter the premises of their places of worship.
Visitor who are not parisherners will have to confirm their identity before entering the Church, the Cardinal emphasised.
