Seven persons allegedly involved in setting a hotel in the Anamaduwa area on fire in the Puttalam district were arrested today, police said.
Footage obtained from a nearby commercial establishment was used to identify those involved in the attack. The suspects are between the age group of 19 to 25 years.
Police said all of them will be charged under emergency regulations that are now in force.
Earlier residents, politicians and traders helped the hotel owner to renovate the place.
Buddist monks in the area also condemned the incident saying it was aimed at inciting communal violence.
