Seven Pakistani nationals sentenced to lifetime jail term over narcotic offences in SL

Seven Pakistani nationals have been sentenced to life imprisonment over narcotic related offences by the Negombo High Court.

Of the arrested suspects three had been arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau while four had been taken into custody by the Customs Department before being handed over to the Police.

The suspects along with details of their offences are produced below;

  • Andul Kashif - Smuggling 425 grams of heroin into Sri Lanka in 2016.
  • Khan Abbas - Smuggling 8.6 kilos of heroin into Sri Lanka in 2016.
  • Imran Mohamed - Smuggling 973 grams of heroin in 2017.
  • Mohamed Nadeem - Smuggling and being in the possession of 1.2 kilos of heroin in 2017.
  • Qadir Shabsad - Smuggling and being in the possession of 136 grams of heroin in 2017.
  • Shakir Mohamed - Smuggling, racketeering and being in the possession of 3.4 grams of heroin in 2017.
  • Qadir Faiza - Smuggling, racketeering and being in the possession of 82 grams of heroin in 2017.

The suspects had been convicted after pleading guilty before court yesteday (Sept 12).
