Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places over most provinces of the island particularly today after 2.00 pm, the Meteorology Department said.
Fairly heavy falls (above 50mm) are also likely at some places. In the morning a few showers are expected in the Western and Southern coastal areas.
"There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity," the department said.
