President Maithripala Sirisena and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa will be appointed as Co-leaders of the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Sandanaya alliance, Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara said.
The agreement to form the alliance will be signed between the Sirisena-led SLFP, the Rajapaksa-led Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), and several other parties, on October 31.
SLFP General Secretary Jayasekara told Times Online that SLPP member Dinesh Gunawardena will be appointed as the Chairman of the alliance which will be represented by the symbol of a Chair at the upcoming elections after the presidential poll.
He added that the post of alliance secretary and treasurer will be filled by the SLPP, while SLFP members will be appointed to the posts of national organiser and assistant secretary.
Meanwhile, 51 percent of the executive committee of the alliance will be constituted by the SLPP while the SLFP will occupy 31 percent of the body.
