Six persons have been arrested for attempting to smuggle mobile phones and mobile chargers into the Boosa Prison for underworld criminal 'Kanjipaani Imran', today (Sept 12).
The suspects which included the father and brother of M.N. Mohamed Imran alias 'Kanjipaani Imran' had been permitted to visit the prison in keeping with National Prisoners' Day.
However, prisons officers had discovered that two mobile phones and phone chargers had been concealed inside two plastic buckets in which the suspects had brought food for the prisoner.
The arrested individuals and the seized items have been handed over to the Rathgama Police for further investigations.
