Six bones samples from the Mannar mass grave which were subjected to a carbon dating test have been identified as those belonging to the period from 1499 - 1719.
The radio carbon dating tests were carried out by the Beta Analytic Lab in Florida, US.
Meanwhile, a decision has not been arrived on whether the excavations would be halted or continued, Special Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) Dr. Saminda Rajapaksa told Times Online.
He added that excavations would continue until a final decision is taken in this regard.
