A police constable assigned to former minister and current opposition MP Rishad Bathiudeen was arrested today for aiding the MP to evade arrest.
The PC was arrested from Wellawatta along with two drivers of the MP.
Two vehicles – a Range Rover jeep and car used by the former MP too were seized.
The moves came as six CID police teams continued to search for the MP who is wanted in the investigations on charges of embezzling government funds and violating election laws during the 2019 presidential election.
An accountant known as A. Manoranjan wanted in connection with the same case was also arrested by the CID.
