The luxury passenger bus service operating between Katunayake and Colombo will be allowed to enter the Airport departure and arrival entrances to pick and drop passengers with effect from today.
The President of the Private Bus Association for the Katunayake luxury bus service, Indika Gunasekara said that the decision to grant permission for the bus to pick and drop passengers at the airport entrance had been conveyed by the Transport Ministry.
He said it would convenient now for the passengers to use the bus service, instead of walking more than one kilometer with their baggage to board the bus or to enter the airport.
So far passengers including foreigners arriving in the country had to walk up to the Awariwatta bus stand to boar the bus while passengers leaving the country had to walk from the bus stand to the airport.
Seventy one buses are registered with the Association and 24 of them operate round the clock.
He said they have sought permission for the buses remaining buses of the 71 to operate between Katunayake and Makumbura.
