Sri Lankan Ambassador Karunasena Hettiarachchi will meet and update Swiss authorities on the investigation into the abduction of a Swiss Embassy employee in Colombo this week.
Eng. Hettiarachchi is currently serving as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Germany and has also been accredited to Switzerland.
The Sri Lankan government reaffirms its commitment towards the obligations set out in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
‘’On being informed of the alleged incident yesterday, the Police has taken immediate action to commence an investigation into the matter,’’ the statement read.
According to Swiss media reports, the female employee had been abducted on Monday, and threatened to disclose "embassy-related information''.
