The economic downfall caused by the governement has plunged the country into a worser situation than countries like Somalia, Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday (May 01).
"Tri-forces personnel could have been deployed even in the eleventh hour in a bid to curb the recent terror attacks," the Opposition Leader said during an event at the Kotte Municipal Council.
He also emphasised that foreign countries must not be allowed to intervene into the internal affairs of the country depite lending their assistance towards the government.
"The government has succeeded only in creating power outages and implementing a fuel pricing formula. They never managed to do something better than that," the former President quipped.
While issuing a message in keeping with the May Day, Mr. Rajapaksa insisted that it was everyone's responsibility to protect national security, the country's economy and the rights of the people.
