Former President and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Maithripala Sirisena told electoral organisers that they now have the responsibility of winning over the confidence of the people in the North and East towards the new government.
Mr Sirisena was addressing a gathering of SLFP organizers for the Northern and Eastern Provinces yesterday (Dec 12).
In addition, the former President said the SLFP should support President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in order to create a strong new government for the future.
He also emphasized that the SLFP electoral organizers also have the greater responsibility of winning over Muslim and Tamil votes for the new government.
Mr Sirisena said the party should work towards establishing national unity in the country through the new government headed by President Rajapaksa.
