Senior Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) members will call on Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) leader President Maithripala Sirisena today (Sept 28), SLFP spokesman Weerakumara Dissanayake said.
Among those to represent the SLPP at the meeting include leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, Presidential Candidate Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, and Basil Rajapaksa, Mr. Dissanayake noted.
Incidentally, this is the first time where Gotabhaya Rajapaksa would meet with the President after officially announcing his candidature.
Meanwhile, the SLFP parliamentary group which met yesterday, had discussed extensively on the proposed alliance with the SLPP and its symbol, should both parties contest under the same banner at the presidential poll.
The SLFP Spokesman said that future matters concerning the alliance would be decided following the outcome of today's talks.
