SL's counter-terrorism progress to figure at global conference

News

Togo President Faure Gnassingbe has said that Sri Lanka’s progress in tackling terrorism is expected to figure during next Saturday's International Terrorism Conference in Togo.

Mr. Gnassingbe had made this remarks during a meeting with Sri Lankan counterpart Maithripala Sirisena, who had explained the counter-terrorism efforts taken by the government since the Easter Sunday attacks.

During the discussion, the President of the West African nation had said that steps would be taken to provide more facilities for businessmen involved in Sri Lanka's garment industry.

Both state leaders had also agreed to expand trade and investment between the two countries. Sri Lanka and Togo established diplomatic relations on September 2015.

The Togo President arrived in the country for a three-day official visit, yesterday (Sept 11). He is expected to meet several state officials and leading Sri Lankan businessmen during his stay.
