The Colombo District Court and the Colombo Magistrate Court have issued orders barring SLT trade unions from protests that cause public inconvenience and obstructs other SLT employees.
The order was issued under case no. B 4132/16 in the Colombo Magistrate's Court preventing the employees of Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) and SLT Human Capital Solutions, who were engaged in strike action, from conducting protests in a manner obstructing pedestrians and vehicular traffic on public roads.
A SLT media release on Monday said under case no. 3/2017/DSP at the Colombo District Court, an enjoining order was issued to all trade unions which are engaged in strike action, preventing them from causing damage to all SLT properties and employees.
“The order further prevents the trade unions who are engaged in trade union action from threatening and derision of any employee of SLT obstructing them while reporting to work, attempting to forcefully lead them out of the organization during working hours, and any other obstruction to the operations of SLT. This order will be in effect until January 10,” the release said. - ENDS -

An interim order prohibiting Deshabandu Tennakoon from carrying out his duties as Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been issued by the Supreme Court.
