The Government Information Department has clarified that the the son of the first Sri Lankan patient diagnosed with Covid-19 does not have the disease and rumours circulating on social media claiming he too has been diagnosed is completely false.
The statement, quoting Director General of Health Services Dr Anil Jasinghe, stated that the 52-year-old tour guide who has been diagnosed with Covid-19 is currently undergoing treatment at the IDH hospital while members of his family have been subjected to quarantine. However, none of the family members including his children have been diagnosed with the disease.
Dr Jasinghe added that the Government has taken all measures to prevent the spread of the disease in Sri Lanka.
