A Sri Lankan youth, who was driving his own vehicle died instantly in an accident which occurred in the capital on Sunday. The deceased, Riswan Mohamed Hilmy, 28, from Colombo, had been working for Splash as a salesman. On the day of the tragedy, he was driving his car at a very high rate of speed when the collision took place. The driver of the other car, who is also an Asian, escaped with minor injuries, Confirming the death, the Sri Lankan Embassy here said it is coordinating with the family of the deceased regarding burial arrangements. Riaz Gulkhan, working for a foreign mission in Riyadh, who is currently vacationing in Colombo, said that the family members of the deceased will be visiting Riyadh on Thursday from Colombo to see the body of the deceased before the burial. The next of kin have already consented for the burial in Riyadh. Gulkhan explained that the deceased was to be married in Colombo during the summer vacation. “He was already engaged to be married to a family in Colombo,” he said, lamenting that reckless driving has contributed to the tragedy.
