Speaker Karu Jayasuriya in a firmly worded appeal to President Maithripala Sirisena requested that Parliament be convened within two weeks while also expressing serious dissatisfaction over the government's conduct during the past few days.
The Speaker said he found it unbelievable that an individual, who contested under the good governance mandate had postponed Parliament for 18 days.
“This does not go in par with the good governance mandate that we received” the speaker noted in his letter.
Speaker Jayasuriya also urged the President to convene parliament within two weeks.
