A special committee chaired by Minister Kabir Hashim has been appointed to consider a new set of proposals for the proposed Democratic National Front (DNF) alliance, an official at the Prime Minister's office said.
The United National Party (UNP)-led alliance was expected to be launched today (Aug 5), but had been delayed after the UNP working committee had disagreed with its proposed constitution during a meeting last week.
Accordingly, the special committee is expected to consider the suggestions of the UNP and the other parties constituting the alliance in a bid to resolve this issue.
