A special SriLankan Airlines flight carrying 181 Sri Lankans who had been stranded in Russia due to the COVID-19 outbreak landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning (25).
Flight UL 1206 from Moscow touched down at the BIA at 5.50am today. All passengers and their luggage were subjected to disinfection by a special team of Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) personnel prior to entering the terminal.
Passengers also had their temperatures taken and a team of health officials from the BIA's medical team checked passengers for any symptioms of COVID-19.
The passengers were then put on buses provided by the Sri Lanka Army and transported to quarantine centres.
This is the second group of Sri Lankans from Russia to be brought back to the country. A group of 261 persons who had been stranded in Russia were brought back on May 22.
