A special intake for Grade One students is to be introduced at national schools for families that have continued to pay their taxes , the Education Ministry said today (Aug 21).
Issuing a statement, the Ministry citing Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, said that discussions will be held with the Inland Revenue Development to identify such families and prepare special criteria to admit students.
The first round of talks had been held yesterday (Aug 20), the Ministry noted adding that Inland Revenue Commissioner General Nadun Guruge too had attended the meeting.
