Special Police Operation Centres have been set-up in each Police Division since yesterday (Sept 19) in keeping with the upcoming Presidential elections, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Accordingly, any incidents of violence or law violations which take place during the run-up to the poll would be reported to the Elections Secretariat by the Police Operation units.
The Presidential election is scheduled to be held on November 16.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
