Special Task Force (STF) personnel from the Katukurunda STF camp disinfected more than 100 multi-day fishing trawlers at anchor at the Beruwala Fisheries Harbour. The STF also disinfected the entire harbour premises.
The disinfection process was conducted on Vesak Poya Day. Operations at the harbour continued even during the curfew in effect throughout the district as fishermen were allowed to go out to sea and fish. However, no fishing activities were conducted during Vesak and authorities used the opportunity to disinfect both the boats and the fisheries harbour in preparation for the reopening of the harbour.
