A sub-police inspector who was arrested in connection with the abduction and alleged killing of two businessmen in Rathgama has been remanded until February 27.
The remand order was issued when the suspect who was arrested on February 21 was produced before the Galle Magistrates Court today (Feb 23).
Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officials who are curently carrying out investigations into the incident had inspected a house in Welladama, Devinuwara in Matara today.
Accordingly, a piece of a burnt jacket, pieces of cloth and parts of two mobile phones were found in a pit that was located in the backyard of the residence.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Inspector of Police Nishantha Silva who has been remanded in connection with the incident had resided in a room at this house.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara has instructed that the law should be enforced to its fullest extent on those involved in the incident, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said.
