The Supreme Court will announce a ruling today (Sept 5) determing whether the affidavit filed by Police chief Pujith Jayasundara would be accepted by the court.
Yesterday, the Attorney General (AG) requested court to dismiss the affidavit as it contained a "false and baseless" allegation on a plot to file a case against Mr. Jayasundara.
This allegation had been levelled against the President, Director of the State Intelligence Service Nilantha Jayawardena and the AG, the court heard.
The request had been made when 12 petitions against the Police Chief and former Defence Secretary over the failure to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks had been taken up before court.
Accordingly, a seven-member judge bench headed by the Chief Justice announced that a ruling over this matter would be issued today.
