A suspect alleged to have been involved in 15 robberies has been arrested from Thelawala in Mount Lavinia. Police Media Unit stated that officers from the Mirihana Special Investigation Unit had received a report that a suspect in the Thelawala area was breaking into houses during daytime and stealing valuables.
Police conducted a raid and arrested the suspect, a 35-year-old area resident. Further investigations revealed that the suspect was connected to as many as 15 robberies in the Mount Lavinia, Moratuwa, Boralesgamuwa and Maharagama police divisions.
Moreover, the suspect had also been arrested in 2009 for possessing a live hand grenade and two cases filed against him by the Boralesgamuwa Police are currently being heard at the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court.
The suspect is due to be produced before the Mt. Lavinia Magistrate's Court today (23) by the Boralesgamuwa Police, who are conducting further investigations.
