A suspect who had escaped the Pallekele Open Prison in 2017 has been arrested in Matale yesterday (Sept 7).
Arrests warrants had been issued on the suspect by the Matale and Bakamuna Magistrate's Courts since then, police said.
According to the police, the suspect aged 35 has been identified as a notorious criminal involved in various thefts across the country.
He is due to be produced before the Matale Magistrate's Court today.
