A tense situation has been reported at the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Battaramulla.
Tensions had flared when individuals had arrived at the office to seek services and began protesting against the trade union action carried out by employees of the Department today (Sept 23).
Police said that heavy traffic congestion has been reported near the Battaramulla junction along the Borella - Kottawa road as a result of the situation.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
