The first stock of paddy to be stored at the Mattala International Airport has been transported to the location, local media reported.
A group has begun demonstrating against the decision to use the Mattala International Airport as a storage facility for paddy.
According to reports a tense situation has evolved with Police personnel being deployed at the scene.
