Thawfeek takes oaths as new MP
Former Trincomalee parliamentarian M. S. Thowfeek took oaths today as a new Member of Parliament following the vacancy created by the resignation of United national Party (UNP) national list MP A.R.A. Hafeez.
His appointment was gazetted on Friday. Dr Hafeez, brother of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) leader Minister Rauff Hakeem, cited personal reasons for his resignation from the parliament.
