Three suspects have been arrested for assaulting and holding a person captive at a house in Koswatta yesterday (Jul 31), police said.
According to the police, investigations have shown that the employer of the victim's workplace had taken steps to assault the employee in connection with the theft of some money.
Police noted that a search operation is currently underway to apprehend the chief suspect who is believed to have fled the area. Three suspects had however been arrested over the incident.
They have been identifed as residents of Bandaragama between the ages of 38 and 51, and are due to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate's court today.
Meanwhile, the victim has been rescued by law enforcement units in the area and is currently receiving treatment at the Panadura hospital, police added.
