Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the assault on the sub-postmaster of the Rukmalpitiya sub-post office yesterday.
Police Media Unit stated that three individuals who had allegedly come on motorbikes had assaulted the victim at about 3,00pm yesterday while the latter was visiting the home of a disabled individual in Dangalakanda, Katuwana to give his disability allowance issued by the Government.
All three suspects were taken into police custody at about 7.00pm today.
Police said the suspects, aged 26, 27 and 28, are all residents of Katuwana. They are due to be produced before the Walasmulla Magistrate. Katuwana Police are investigating.
