Three domestic airports are to be granted certification in order to commence operations of regional commercial flights in future.
Cabinet approval was granted to this effect following a proposal put forward by Minister Arjuna Ranatunga yesterday (Jul 30).
Accordingly, instructions will be given to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to certify the Batticaloa Airport, Ratmalana Airport, and Palali Airport for the operation of regional flights.
Instructions will also be issued to the CAA to prepare the relevant regulations concerning airspace management for regional flights.
