Three people, including two teenagers, drowned after their boat capsized while fishing in an inlet of a lagoon in Kattankudy this afternoon, police said.
The victims were among five individuals who were on a boat at the time of the tragedy.
Navy officers recovered the bodies of the victims who have been identified as those of ages 18, 19, and 20. Their remains lie at the Ampara Hospital.
Further investigations are underway.
