Naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command arrested three fishermen for engaging in fishing activities using illegal fishing nets in the sea area of Nachchikuda yesterday,navy said.
Along with the suspects 2 dinghies, a traditional boat (Wallam) and 6 illegal fishing nets were also taken into naval custody. The arrested fishermen, their boats and fishing gear were handed over to the Kilinochchi Fisheries Inspector for onward legal action.
