Three sub-inspectors who had allegedly been in close contact with underworld figure Kanjipaani Imran, have been transferred with immediate effect today (Aug 19).
Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara stated that these police officers have been transferred from the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to the Mannar, Mullaitivu, and Jaffna police stations.
Ven. Magalkande Sudantha Thera had filed a complaint at the police over the manner in which three CCD officers had interacted with the underworld criminal who has been accused of abetting and plotting killings.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Special Investigations Unit of the Police Headquarters.
M.N. Mohamed Imran has been detained at the CCD after he had been deported from Dubai following his arrest along with 30 others including drug kingpin 'Makandure Madush' with narcotics at a party.
