Three suspects with heroin and crystal methamphetamine were taken into custody by Navy during a coordinated search carried out with the Puttalam Police Narcotic Bureau in Puttalam, Navy said.
The Navy has been conducting continuous operations to ward off the drug menace from the country. Accordingly, naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command during a coordinated search conducted with the Police Narcotic Bureau in Puttalam area had searched three suspicious houses and found about 06g and 151mg of heroin and approximately 02g of crystal methamphetamine in the possession of the house- dwellers. The suspects were subsequently taken into custody.
The accused have been identified as residents of the same area, from 28 to 31 years of age. Meanwhile, the Puttalam Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
