A resolution calling for international intervention to probe alleged war crimes, moved by a Tamil National Alliance member at a meeting of the Northern Provincial Council on Tuesday, fell through. “I am clueless as to why the TNA members do not want to support it, when the TNA’s position favours even an international investigation mechanism into alleged war crimes,” M.K. Shivajilingam said on Wednesday. He said he had wanted the U.N. to provide technical assistance to Sri Lanka tofind a negotiated political solution. He was also for the mediation of India, the U.S., the EU and Canada to resolve the ethnic question. (The Hindu)
