The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman will be visiting Sri Lanka on Saturday, the office announced in a short statement on Wednesday. Feltman plans to meet with senior officials of the government of Sri Lanka, political parties and civil society groups. This will be his first visit to Sri Lanka and he looks forward to discussing with Sri Lankan leaders on various issues of mutual concern, the U.N. has stated. The U.N. official's visit to Sri Lanka will take place at a time when Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called on the new government to address long standing issues faced by the country with the cooperation of U.N. agencies.
