Atleast 11 houses were partially damaged due to a tornado in the Medakimbiya area in Galle yesterday (Nov 19), the Galle District Disaster Management Centre (DMC) office said.
The tornado had affected 74 persons, while uprooting several trees and also damaging three agricultural lands in the area, the Additional Director of the district office Major Induka Wickramasinghe said.
He noted that the DMC along with the Divisional Secretariat in the area will take steps to compensate the victims.
