Torrential rains experienced in Nuwara Eliya from this evening have brought welcome relief to farmers who had been waiting for rains for several months.
Farmers in Nuwara Eliya and surrounding areas have been unable to tend to their fields over the past few months owing to lack of rain.
Though the Government permitted farmers to engage in farming even during curfew imposed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, farmers here had been unable to do so without any substantial rain.
As such, torrential rains which started at about 4.00pm today have given new hope to farmers that they can now return to their fields.
