The OIC attached to the Borella Motor Trafic Division who fell victim to a recent hit-and-run accident passed away a short while ago.
The victim, Police Inspector Sarathchandra, had died at around 8:50 pm while receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital.
The accident had occured at around 4:35 am on February 24 when a defender jeep had collided with the victim who was on a motorcyle.
A total of eight suspects were arrested in connection with the accident of which seven were released on bail.
The driver of the jeep has been remanded until March 11.
