Sri Lanka’s Commission of Inquiry probing the Central Bank (CB) bond scam on Tuesday held its first public hearing, recording a statement by Central Bank Governor Indrajit Coomaraswamy.
The Governor detailed about the process pertaining to bond issues. His evidence will be continued tomorrow.
The commission made up of Supreme Court judges K. T. Chithrasiri and P. S. Jayawardena, and retired Deputy Auditor General K. Velupillai was appointed by the President in late January with a mandate to look into the bond scam, investigate it and then report on it. It was to commence on February 1 and end on March 31. – (Bandula)
