Two police constables in Moratuwa have been apprehended for issuing temporary driving licences in exchange for a fee today (Aug 21).
An investigation had been launched after a driver had produced a suspicious license at a roadblock in the area last evening.
During the inquiry, it was revealed that the constables had been issuing these licenses for a long time.
Eleven driving permits had been recovered during a search carried out in the locker of a constable. The suspects, identified as a 27 and 24-year old are due to be produced before court today.
They are to be charged for misusing state property.
