A two day adjournment debate on the government policy statement presented by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today in Parliament is to take place on Jan 7 and Jan 8, 2020.
According to a statement issued by the Parliament's Information Department, party leaders and political party representatives took the decision to conduct a debate at a meeting held in Parliament today (Jan 3).
Accordingly, the debate will be held from 1.00 p.m to 6.30 p.m on the 7th and the 8th. There will be no vote in this regard as it will be held as an adjournment debate.
Meanwhile, it was also decided to take vote of condolence on the former Prime Minister DM Jayaratne on 9th January following the adjournment debate.
Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri, Ministers Dinesh Gunawardena, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Johnston Fernando, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, Lakshman Kiriella, Gayantha Karunatilleke, Ajith P. Perera M.A Sumanthiran were present at the party leaders meeting held today (03) chaired by Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya.
