Elections for the Pudukuduiruppu and Maritimepattu Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Mullaithivu district will be held on February 28, Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said today. Earlier a court order was issued not to conduct local government polls for the Pudukuduirippu Pradeshiya Sabha and the Maritimepattu Pradeshiya Sabha on October 8, 2011 following a petition filed by two refugees residing at the Menik Farm.
A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
