Unemployed Jaffna graduates launch fast
A group of unemployed graduates in Jaffna have begun a fast opposite the Jaffna District Secretariat demanding that the Government provide them with permanent jobs.
Today is the third day of the fast. The protesters stated that previous Governments had continously deceived them by promising to provide them permenent employment and that the present Government too was doing the same thing. This is despite a claim made by the Government that it would provide 1 million jobs, they claimed.
As such, they called upon the Government to take heed of their plight and to give priority to the war-battered Northern provine when implementing the 1 million jobs program.
